“The Positive Purchasing Academy is a fantastic corporate management learning system and our clients are quickly adopting the new learning process. The Kentico framework ensures that administering the Academy is a straightforward and consistent process yet has allowed for a comprehensive range of functionality.  Tellonline have built this custom LMS to our exact requirements.”

Jonathan O’Brien, Company Director, Positive Purchasing.

Goals and Challenges

Positive Purchasing AcademyPositive Purchasing are specialists in delivering learning programmes to purchasing departments, management and personnel on a global scale. They approached Tellonline with an aim of delivering more of their services over the web in order to reduce the requirement of face to face training. The project was to extend their current Positive Purchasing ‘Academy’ product to include a more personal learning experience with the use of unique training plans.

Solutions

The project utilized the Kentico Framework and involved building CMS extensions and custom modules (web parts).  These included:

  • User Management - allows administrators to add courses and training material to the training plans of learners to make up learning pathways.
  • Course Management - Administrators are able to manage complex course structures and collate course content in manageable modules.
  • Training Plan and Archive - a personalised training plan sets out learning pathways, milestones and training needs identified through competency assessment.
  • Community and Collaboration Tools - where learners can access material that will help with training including links to groups and resources within the Academy and externally.
  • My Competencies - administered by Positive Purchasing Administrators, it displays a report from assessments that have been completed by the learner.

Positive PurchasingAs well as various user levels – from a variety of administrators to learner-types - it was essential that the system permitted extensive control over a wide variety of training material including PDFs, streaming video, Flash files, Word documents and downloadable PowerPoint presentations.

The system also has a SCORM engine (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) that ensures compatibility with other SCORM-compliant e-learning software products.

Results

The client is extremely happy with the extensive functionality of the LMS which will enable Positive Purchasing to achieve their business aims in a seamless and more cost effective way.  The Positive Purchasing Academy will be released for client use in March 2010.
