Goals and Challenges
Tendersincornwall.co.uk is a procurement website used by public sector organisations to publish upcoming projects for which businesses may tender. The client had a website when they approached us but were looking to upgrade to something much more comprehensive that could better serve its users.
It was essential that the website:
- Was user friendly yet comprehensive providing a smoother more productive procurement process
- Enhanced the reporting ability of the website in order to improve measurability
- Allowed selected organisations (buyers) to list/edit/remove (deactivate not delete) projects available for tender at their discretion
- Featured a comprehensive search facility allowing businesses to search information about relevant opportunities
- Provided notifications to sellers about recently updated tenders that are relevant to their business sector
- Improved the quality of tenders by providing advice and supplying resources with regards to procurement processes and seller expectations.
The biggest challenge during the project was creating a highly bespoke extranet and tender market place. An extensive reporting suite and administration system was built to co-exist alongside the traditional Kentico CMS.
Solutions
We implemented the Kentico CMS using the portal engine and utilized the following features:
- Contact forms
- News including RSS feeds
- FAQ’s
- Search
- Dynamic navigation
- Custom web parts
- Scheduled web tasks
Results
The initiative has been a huge success and massively popular with the client buyers and sellers. The website is enjoying many more hits than its predecessor, has successfully increased exposure of the tenders and enabled simpler tendering processes. Ease of use of CMS has saved the client a lot of administration time and provided them with much more control over their content.
