4500 runners at the Plymouth Half Marathon
31/05/2011
Normally deserted at 8.30am on a Sunday morning, Royal Parade in Plymouth was jammed with 4,500 runners and thousands of supporters yesterday for the start of the Plymouth Half Marathon.
Grey skies, a stiff westerly wind and a hint of drizzle - actually ideal conditions for distance running - had trimmed the field from the 6,000 original entrants.
But the race proved a huge hit for runners and spectators alike, with massive crowds turning out to line the route and cheer the athletes on.
Tellonline as the
sponsors and developers of the Plymouth Half Marathon website had 3 people running the 13.1 miles.
