Plymouth Website Design and Development

Bhs International websiteOver the years the web has evolved from a simple and fun information tool to an essential part of both our lifestyle choices and business processes.  Whether booking a holiday for the family or researching a new supplier; the internet is our first, and often single, point of reference.

Research has shown that on average a visitor to your website will spend just a fraction of a second deciding whether to stay.  Unless your website design looks professional, functions correctly and accurately reflects your company ethos; you’ve potentially lost a new client before they’ve even made contact.

Tell have all of these basic fundamentals in mind when working with our clients on their website design and development. We collectively have over 30 years of experience working alongside businesses of all varieties and sizes in order to combine the latest technologies with striking and original designs that go a long way to ensure visitors to their websites not only stay, but keep returning.

Website Compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act

www.hivpa-ehive.org pharmacy procurement training website As of October 2004 the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requires service providers to ensure the services they provide are accessible to people with disabilities.  The DDA requirement applies to services delivered via the web and it applies to all businesses and public sector organisations.

The most widely accepted guidelines for the construction of accessible web sites are those specified by W3C who have produced the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

There are many reasons for making your site more accessible:

  • Reputable organisations recognise their responsibility to the disabled community
  • It can increase market size to include people with disabilities
  • It is more accommodating towards the aging population
  • It reduces corporate risk – companies with accessible websites protect themselves from litigation, costly settlements, unfavourable publicity and potential loss of business
  • It can increase accessibility for users with old browsers, non standard operating systems, slow connections, small screens or text only screens such as PDA’s and mobile phones that do not read websites in the same way PC’s do
  • It improves search engine optimisation and usability
  • Text only pages are printer friendly

Tell recommend that clients consider these responsibilities when planning their web development and we will work alongside clients to ensure sites are accessible in line with W3C guidelines.
